DALLAS, Texas – The Texas Access to Justice Commission honored Pamela St. John with its Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Award last week during the Business Law and Corporate Counsel CLE and Luncheon, which was held in conjunction with the State Bar of Texas’ Annual Meeting.

The Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Award recognizes an outstanding corporate counsel attorney who actively provides pro bono services to low-income Texans and promotes a pro bono culture within the corporate framework.  The award is accompanied by a $2,000 stipend to be designated to a legal aid organization of the award recipient’s choice.

St. John serves as a general attorney with AT&T Services in Dallas. She became a pro bono volunteer at the start of her legal career while working as a litigator with Coats Rose in Houston.  Later, when St. John’s career took her into the corporate world, first in San Antonio and later in Dallas, St. John maintained her strong commitment to pro bono efforts.  St. John became involved in the Dallas Bar Association’s Pro Bono Activities Committee and with AT&T’s Pro Bono Committee. Her passion led her to serve as Co-Chair of AT&T's Legal Department's national pro bono committee.  Over the years, in addition to volunteering at countless legal clinics, handling dozens of pro bono cases, and recruiting AT&T attorneys, St. John has also been instrumental in rallying support for local legal aid funding. She currently serves on the Community Service Fund Board, as a mentor for the ‘Transition to Law Practice Program’ of the Dallas Bar Association, and on the Board of Legal Aid of Northwest Texas.

St. John is an exemplary pro bono leader who has enriched the company’s culture of pro bono and continually strives to meet the legal needs of low-income Texans in her community.

The award was presented to St. John by Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman, the Court’s liaison to the Texas Access to Justice Commission.  St. John designated the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program as the recipient of the $2,000 stipend.
