Partners in Justice Raise Over $100,000 for civil legal services
AUSTIN, Texas – The “Partners in Justice” campaign funds Texas legal-aid programs that provide crucial legal services and supports the administration of justice for all.
The initiative was spearheaded by Wayne Watts, former senior executive vice president and general counsel of AT&T, Inc. and chair of the Commission’s Corporate Counsel Committee. “Improving access for justice in the communities where we work and live improves the quality of life for all of us,” shared Watts, “it helps the less fortunate and is critical we help provide this support. I’m proud to be part of an initiative that creates such positive change.”
Co-Chairs of the initiative included Jack Balagia of Exxon Mobil Corporation in Irving, David J. Beck, of Beck Redden LLP in Houston, Lisa Blue of Baron & Blue in Dallas, Ricardo G. Cedillo of Davis Cedillo & Mendoza, Inc. in San Antonio, Hon. Deborah G. Hankinson of Hankinson LLP in Dallas, Joseph D. Jamail, Jr. of Jamail & Kolius in Houston, Hon. Wallace B. Jefferson of Alexander Dubose Jefferson & Townsend in Austin, Harriet E. Miers of Locke Lord, LLP in Dallas, Hon. Harriet O’Neill of the Law Office of Harriet O’Neill, PC in Austin.
The effort raised more than $100,000, and the proceeds will be distributed by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation to provide civil legal services for low-income Texans. Photos from the event can be viewed on our Flickr page.

The Texas Access to Justice Commission was created in 2001 by the Supreme Court of Texas to develop and implement policy initiatives designed to expand access to and enhance the quality of justice in civil legal matters for low-income Texans.
